Electrician – Network Cabling

The Network Cabling Electrician is responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of network cabling systems. This includes structured cabling, fiber optics, and various other low voltage systems. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in electrical work, with specific experience in network cabling.

Responsibilities:

  • Install, terminate, and test network cabling systems, including CAT5, CAT6, CAT6A, and fiber optic cables
  • Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals to determine proper layout and installation of cabling systems
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards, local building codes, and safety regulations
  • Perform troubleshooting and repair of network cabling issues
  • Conduct site surveys to assess and plan for new installation and upgrades
  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other team members to ensure project timelines and quality standards are met
  • Maintain accurate records of installations, inspections, maintenance, and repair work
  • Provide excellent customer service, addressing client inquiries and concerns promptly and professionally
  • Stay up to date with industry trends, technologies, and best practices

Qualifications:

  • Journeyman, 3rd or 4th year electrical apprentice, with specific experience in network cabling installation and maintenance
  • High school diploma or equivalent, vocational training or technical certification in electrical work
  • Proficient in the use of tools and equipment related to network cabling and electrical work
  • Strong understanding of network infrastructure, including structured cabling systems, fiber optics, and low voltage systems
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Valid drivers license and reliable transportation
  • Physical ability to lift heavy objects, climb ladders, and work in confined spaces
